The Natural County of Moianès is placed in central of the autonomous region of Catalonia, only 52 Km far from Barcelona, and it has a very good communication with Lleida and Girona by the road called: "Eix Transversal". Preserve a rich heritage of history, nature and culture; many archaeological remains show the steps of men of the remote past. Caves with Paleolithic and Neolithic remains, dolmens, castles, Romanesque chapels and historical remains of pre-industrial architecture (water mills, iced-well, calcium ovens, ...see them in the pictures in the main page).
The Moianès makes a plateau on the depressions of the plain of Vic, Bages and Vallès, with an altitude of 700 m, approximately, with some peaks of 1000 m. The vegetation is composed of oak grove and box-tree, mainly; but there are some pine grove, wood of holm-oaks and some beech grove, too.
Moià is the capital of the county.

This natural county is integrated by different administrative areas: Bages (Moià, L'Estany, Sta. Maria d'Oló, Calders and Monistrol de Calders), Osona ( Collsuspina) and Vallès Oriental ( Castellcir, Castellterçol, Granera and Sant Quirze Safaja). The total population is 10.000 inhabitant. « return
It is found many signs of the persistence of men from middle Palaeolithic (between 100.000 and 40.000 years) and exist some Paleolithic fields like the Caves of "El Toll", inhabited in prehistoric time. Nowadays the caves are opened to guided visits and it is possible to go over 158 m. of its 1.148 m. of depth. There are other interesting fields like remains of Neolithic sepulchers and dolmens in different states of conservation ....
Most the objects and remains found during the explorations and archaeological purposes are exposed in Moià in the Archaeological and Paleolithic Museum joined to Rafael Casanova Museum. « return
The prevailing vegetation in present time is composed of a sort of pine called Red Pine, hoam-oaks, oaks .... And there are also interesting and traditional vegetation like beech grove although the beech grove need to live in a colder and wetter climate than the climate in Bages county.« return
There are some interesting remains of pre-industrial architecture like water mills, calcium ovens and one of the most important concentration of iced-wells of Europe.
Iberian inhabited places, castles, palaces, Romanesque chapels and remains of baroque architecture are signs of a rich cultural history.« return
